First the talk should be direct and firm. No “dear” or worse “friend”, the speech to this acquaintance should be of the most polite, firm but dire vivid.
He is a person that knows sweet talk, he knows you and used to rule your world. The moment you decide to take control, he is eager to have a talk with You. Using more sweet words and tricks to have you back in his game.
_Things you will notice in his “engaged” approach towards you
He will be nicer than usual, I bet he has never been this nice to you. It seems like a complex relationship, well see it that way as a relationship you need to take back authority from. He will make you see idleness in the wrong way, not like a needed moment to nourish yourself from solitude but for a “push under the carpet” moment. The amount of work to be done is never a problem, he always finds interesting excuses to make you see the mountain like a “Mountain”. Never he will encourage you to climb the mountain…
_I don’t even bother talking to him anymore
Well before not talking to him and ignoring him, face him and claim your decision of moving on. Short but effective, “Transmute” as a man of value would say. You have to stand strong and not be tempted by his sweet talk, switch to a more up living state.
Facing him signals to all your system, your intention of taking the “your” seat, as the boss.
_Make decisions! yes, even the ridiculously small ones…those which direct you to your current goal.
Take decisions even small ones to be in action, It could be a cold shower (it changes the vibration of all your body, it’s a powerful reset), a paragraph of that chapter that is luring at you (write keywords, record yourself starting) whatever and the fun thing is that it up to you…
Audio is a powerful push-up and awakener, a few days ago, I listened at night to a quick recording for a project which contained notes but also spoken reasons “why the project was worth it”. The next morning I was set, listening to a past version of myself reminding me of my “why” was quite helpful. I started working the next morning, I think I had hit rock bottom of Mr procrastination for too long on that project.
_Be firm but kind! and move on with your goals.
I will always praise celebrating small wins. Mr Procrastination hates that, it’s his kryptonite, the more you enjoy and are happy even of small steps the more he is shrinking. The choice of focus always prevails face to Mr Procrastination.
One thing to be said in his defence is that he is part of an old program, like a persistent bug that tries to survive in the new advanced program you are installing. He wants to survive indeed, it’s true and he is using tricks, well your job is to make him “not survive” for good, at list make it a habit.
We all know he has been a disaster to a lot of people including me and he still does on small and high scales. But in the end “Time” stays powerful, you will meet him time to time on your journey of “hacking your brain”, remember you are the commander and will always be. Once you believe it, Mr Procrastination will fade away day by day, even if he pops up, because he will, well your job is to switch.
No more Mr Pro.. cra… Mr What? Don’t know the man or woman by the way…
A light and short article, that is how we should see Mr procrastination: Light. Not like the problem but the manifestation of the problem. Let’s hold on and get rid of him each time he pops up, the more we train the more he shrinks.
