Are you fighting your nature?

Nurture your highlighted skills

As a creative, I navigate many skills, but illustration has always been my ‘‘fil rouge’’*. I sprinkle it in my projects, digital products, writing, branding and more. For years, I considered it an add-on. I have been using it because it is part of my expression palette. I did not see it as that brand trigger that could invite and captivate people into my world. My branding journey brought me the awareness of the ‘‘fil rouge’’. Many peers, companies, and founders point out this ‘’fil rouge’’. And now, more than ever, I have understood its potential.

Fil rouge = red string

I am a visual brand with strategy and storytelling. As I grow my voice and allow my creative hand to direct and guide me, illustration becomes a superpower. The gear I have been training is a visual power that speaks a message, a voice, a brand.

If you are creative, don’t combat your nature.

Instead, infuse it into every venture you take. If you are a multiple-in-one, own it and feel free to specialize in more than one skill. Make your ‘‘multiple’’ a superpower for your brand and the brands you support. Craft that alchemy and direct it towards your goals.

If you are a brand and want to redefine your story, look into that visual power. Does it elevate the message?

Visual storytelling aligned with strategy can help captivate your audience. It can become the catalyst for that encounter with them. Today, every brand can use illustration as a storytelling magnet. So, look at your brand assets and think about the next step in your brand story. Be open to having a creative pool that will breathe new life into your story. More than ever, you need creatives to create!

As for me, I keep experimenting with my projects. Each new venture helps me refine that ‘‘fil rouge’’ and accept that it has become one of my branding triggers. By the way, I am currently back in animation classes!

“Your nature’’ is a body of skills; it speaks without you having to overflow with words. Sometimes, by listening and observing, you will recognize those “fils rouges’’. They are highlighted in your work and voice.

You can join my newsletters if you want to learn more about my journey and projects. They work as a duo. First, there is ‘‘Your Creative Letter’’, an immersion into creative leadership. Then there is ‘‘Your Branding Letter’’, an investigation on branding. But more importantly, it is a tool to demystify.
